BYL U15 / JGMS Select Team Format 2012 Season – January 16, 2012
In an attempt to balance the tremendous growth of Bedford Youth Lacrosse (BYL) within the Massachusetts Bay Youth Lacrosse League (MBYLL) and MBYLL Select League, with the desire to accommodate student athletes looking for more competition as they prepare for high school athletics, the BYL board has adopted the following change for the U15 / JGMS program:
Boys currently in grades 7 and 8 may register for the MBYLL program with practices currently scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday evenings 6:00-7:30pm and balanced MBYLL games on Sunday afternoons.
For those able and willing to dedicate more time to lacrosse, U15 MBYLL players may elect to try out for the U15 / JGMS Select team with practices Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday immediately after school coached by Coach Dave Malio with games on Friday evenings. The Select team players will also be able to practice Tuesday and Thursday evenings if they choose, and will be rostered on one of the Sunday U15 MBYLL teams with an expectation that they participate.
Players not selected for the U15 Select Team will remain rostered on one of the two U15 MBYLL teams.
The Select team will be ideally limited to 18 players committed to improving their game and will be selected through tryouts judged by the BHS coaching staff. There will be an expectation that those athletes electing to try out for the U15 Select team are doing so because they want to improve their game individually and as a team – and therefore will make every effort to attend practices and games as scheduled.
Additional tryout information and application will be made available for download by February 1, 2012. If you have any questions on this program change, please feel free to contact one of the BYL Vice Presidents / Director Boys Division or BYL Director of Player Development – available through the CONTACTS tab at www.bedfordyouthlacrosse.org.
